Textures + Tones

I love intertwining rich textures and warm tones during Winter months for a variety of reasons. Winter light is the perfect backdrop to highlight and showcase shades and surfaces that would otherwise get drowned out by light in brighter seasons. But there is also an emotional warmth and lushness that feels divine when stepping out (or in) with a gorgeously engineered work of art.

Dries Van Noten created this beautiful floral-print chiffon half-skirt with tiered ruffles and a thick black ribbon that ties at waist. I have paired it with high and low pieces and it never ever disappoints. Here, I am wearing a black Eileen Fisher fine jersey turtleneck and a pair of black Commando faux patent leather leggings. I added a 5 strand wood beaded and feather necklace by Brunello Cucinelli to play off the drama of the half-skirt and a pair of Jimmy Choo Romy 85 Pumps in brown suede to compliment the rich, warm tones. It may be chilly outside but I feel fine!

Wishing you all a happy week ahead - February will be here before we know it!
